Job summary

SEARHC in Sitka, Alaska is seeking a part-time optometrist to join our established Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center Eye Clinic, serving a diverse patient population.

You will provide comprehensive eye care, coordinate co-management, supervise staff, and travel to regional field clinics to support rural communities.

New graduates are welcome; 2+ years of clinical experience preferred; Alaska license required; a comprehensive benefits package supports work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• New graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Two or more years of clinical experience preferred.
• Doctor of Optometry (OD.).
• Active/unrestricted Alaska license (or ability to obtain).
• BLS certification within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive eye care including diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, and co-management as applicable.
• Accurate and timely medical recordkeeping.
• Conduct field Eye Clinics to SEARHC locations.
• Assist with on-the-job training and competency of the local Eye Clinic staff.
• May sponsor Dispensing Optician Apprentices.
• May precept and mentor optometry students.
• Support departmental compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and SEARHC policies.
