Job summary

Novant Health Coastal Region is seeking an Ophthalmologist to diagnose, treat, and surgically manage eye diseases and injuries. The role includes comprehensive exams, prescribing lenses/medications, and performing cataract and laser surgeries, while collaborating with other healthcare professionals to uphold high-quality patient care.

The position emphasizes maintaining up-to-date knowledge and high clinical standards, with duties spanning patient education, case management, and coordination

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Completion of an Ophthalmology residency.
  • Valid, unrestricted state medical license.
  • Board certification (or eligibility) from the ABO preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills, steady hands, and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams, vision tests, and interpret diagnostic results.
  • Diagnose and treat eye diseases (e.g., cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy) and traumatic injuries.
  • Perform surgeries, including cataract, glaucoma, retinal, and laser procedures.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses (glasses, contacts) and medications.
  • Educate patients on eye health and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, technicians, and other specialists.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and stay current with ophthalmic advancements.
