Ophthalmologist

General Summary:

  • Under the supervision of the president and in collaboration with the managerial team, the ophthalmologist provides medical services to patients of LECOM Health Medical Associates of Erie.

Main Functions:

  • Educate patients on eye health and disease prevention.
  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, and slit lamp examinations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Perform surgical procedures like cataract extraction, LASIK, and corneal transplantation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Prescribe and fit corrective lenses or contact lenses as needed.
  • Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology through continued education and research.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience as an Ophthalmologist or similar role.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visuospatial awareness.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision-making and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Emotionally resilient, with the ability to make patients feel at ease.
  • Effective management and leadership skills.
  • Relevant training and/or certification as an Ophthalmologist.
