Ophthalmologist
General Summary:
- Under the supervision of the president and in collaboration with the managerial team, the ophthalmologist provides medical services to patients of LECOM Health Medical Associates of Erie.
Main Functions:
- Educate patients on eye health and disease prevention.
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, and slit lamp examinations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Perform surgical procedures like cataract extraction, LASIK, and corneal transplantation.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses or contact lenses as needed.
- Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology through continued education and research.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience as an Ophthalmologist or similar role.
- Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visuospatial awareness.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Emotionally resilient, with the ability to make patients feel at ease.
- Effective management and leadership skills.
- Relevant training and/or certification as an Ophthalmologist.
