Job Overview

Fairview is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented certified Ophthalmic Technologist to join the Eye Ophthalmology Clinic team at M Health Fairview Riverside Park Plaza Building. In this role, you will support pediatric optometrists and other eye care professionals in providing exceptional care to children and their families. You will assist with patient intake, vision testing, diagnostic procedures, patient education, and clinic operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to improving children's eye health.

Enjoy a consistent work schedule with this 0.8 FTE, benefits-eligible position (64 hours per pay period). Scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p. This role offers a predictable schedule with no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities, allowing for a healthy work-life balance while making a meaningful impact on the lives of pediatric patients.

Administers broad range of clinical diagnostic testing, including basic, intermediate and advanced assessment protocols under the direction of an Ophtometrist/Ophthalmologist. Completes ordered patient testing in conjunction with a physician's examination. Responsible for the daily application of the AIDET customer services tools in order to ensure a positive experience for the patient, as measured by clinic metrics. Assists the coordination of the specialty clinic and maintains required company training.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Appropriate and Accurate Ophthalmic Testing and documentation, including: Takes Medical History; Tests Visual Acuity; Measures Intraocular Pressure; Glasses Neutralization –Reading Glasses Rx; Automated Refraction; Manifest Refraction; Administers Eye Drops; Provides Patient Education; Tests Humphrey Visual Field; Fits patients for contact lens – Basic Fit + I&R; Retinoscopy Neutralization of Refractive Error; Keratometry/Corneal Topography; Ascans/IOL Calculations; Goldman Perimetry-Basic Testing; Assists with Ophthalmic Surgery; Maintains Ophthalmic Equipment; Color Vision Testing; Contrast Visual Acuity; Advanced Contact Lens Evaluating/fitting.; Advanced Retinoscopy Neutralization and Manifest Refraction of Corneal Transplant Patients and Infants;
  • Reviews patient information and differentiates between ophthalmic inflammation and infection.
  • Performs advanced assessment protocols to test and instructs clinic patients as ordered by the examining physician; Contact Lens; Ophthalmic Clinical Photography; Instructs patients on the insertion and removal of CL lenses, including what contraindications to watch for while using CL lenses
  • Facilitates in one or more of the ophthalmic sub-specialties within clinic
  • Patient instruction and education as directed by provider, or according to approved protocols
  • Assists clinic management to ensure the quality and the accuracy of work performed by COAs and COTs as it pertain to vision testing.
Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of clinical experience in Ophthalmology as a technician
  • Some experience with administering advanced clinical eye exams
  • Completion of an accredited Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist training program and certification
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Upon Hire
