UC San Diego's Ophthalmology department seeks an ophthalmic paraprofessional to support patient flow, take histories, perform vision tests, measurements, and organize exam rooms under physician supervision.

Responsibilities include scheduling, sterilization, patient education, and coordinating referrals. Must have infection control knowledge and professional dress standards; willingness to pursue Ophthalmic Assistant certification.

Formación

• Ability to take patient history, evaluate patient problems and document in patient record.
• Perform tonometry, visual field testing, visual acuity, refractive error, color vision and related tests.
• Develop and implement effective scheduling and coordinate necessary documents and referrals.
• Sterilize and maintain ophthalmology equipment and supplies in a clean, safe manner.
• Educate patients, staff and students on ophthalmology clinic services and procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and sterilization methods.
• General knowledge of ophthalmic diseases to carry out functions.
• Communicate courteously with the public and medical personnel.
• Knowledge of professional dress code and lab hygiene.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in patient care under supervision of physicians, including history taking and testing.
• Organize and stock each examination room and manage patient flow.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of referrals and documents.
