Job summary

OHSU Casey Eye Institute is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to assist physicians with preliminary screening, testing, and patient histories at the Longview, WA site. You will support pre-exam testing and testing workflows as ordered, contributing to efficient patient care.

Qualified candidates may hold an AA in Ophthalmic Technology or BA/BS in Health Care related field, with COA certification and BLS. This is a full-time on-site role offering comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited ophthalmic training program (e.g., Ophthalmic Technician Program, Ophthalmic Medical Personnel Training Program).
• AA in Ophthalmic Technology or higher from an accredited school is preferred.
• Current COA certification or higher is required.
• BA/BS in Health Care, Science or Research related field with clinical testing experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-exam testing including history, visual acuity, pupil evaluation, tonometry and related patient services as ordered by physicians.
• Conduct visual fields testing (GVF/HVF), keratometry and OCT as part of patient workups.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures or laser treatments in the office.
• Process prescription refills and manage patient triage calls and messages.
• Maintain safety, equipment readiness, and adherence to hospital procedures.
