Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) seeks an Ophthalmic Technician for NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Responsibilities include performing ophthalmic tests, imaging, and documenting findings in patient records, with support for physicians and residents.

Required are a four-year high school diploma, CPR certification, and JCAHPO ophthalmic assistant certification or equivalent within 2 years. Strong organizational skills and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma and CPR certification.
  • JCAHPO ophthalmic assistant certification or within 2 years of appointment.
  • Ability to perform and document ophthalmic tests and photography.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and record chief complaint and ophthalmic history in patient records.
  • Perform automated visual field testing and maintain test records.
  • Perform slit lamp examination and external photography with documentation.
  • Perform posterior segment imaging and maintain records.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies; ensure sterility of instruments.
  • Assist attending physicians with case presentations and scheduling of procedures.
