Job summary

AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY) is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician for our Washington Heights practice. You will assist physicians with patient care, run ophthalmic tests, and document results in the EMR, supporting efficient clinic flow.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in eye care, formal ophthalmic training, and JCAHPO certification within 12 months. The role offers a competitive hourly wage and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Formal ophthalmic training preferred and advantageous.
• Some college coursework in anatomy/medical terminology helpful.
• JCAHPO COA/COT/CMOT certification required within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and document in EMR.
• Perform and record visual acuity and related tests.
• Order and manage lenses as prescribed.
• Answer patient questions and assist ophthalmologist.
• Maintain, calibrate and sterilize ophthalmic instruments.
• Transcribe physician dictation into EMR per guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed.
• Educate patients on ocular conditions and care.
• Support in-office ophthalmic procedures.
