Job summary

Delray Eye Associates in Delray Beach, FL is seeking an energetic, patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our multi-specialty ophthalmology practice.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred.
  • One to two years’ experience in multi-specialty clinic preferred.
  • Willing to travel to other offices occasionally.
  • Able to walk and stand for eight hours.
  • Able to type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting.

Responsibilities

  • Make introductions and establish rapport with patients
  • Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings.
  • Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity, pupil evaluation, tonometry, and dilation; assist with specialty tests as requested.
  • Perform lensometry and testing such as visual fields, keratometry, A/B scans, and OCT
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures or laser treatments in the office
  • Assist with fitting contact lenses and instruct patients in care and insertion
  • Maintain inventory of medications and supplies; clean and maintain equipment
  • Open/close exam lanes and ensure equipment safety; follow safety procedures
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with doctors and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
