Job summary

Virginia Eye Consultants in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists by performing initial testing and preparing patients for exams. This role includes travel to nearby locations with mileage paid.

You will handle a wide range of duties from pupil checks to diagnostic tests such as visual fields and OCT, while maintaining HIPAA standards and documenting in EMR. Applicants with COA/COT are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of related experience and/or training or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel to multiple locations as needed.
• Current COA/COT certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist ophthalmologist by performing initial testing and patient prep.
• Operate exam room equipment and record results in EMR.
• Maintain clean, stocked examination, treatment and laser rooms.
• Verify patient information and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Document all procedures and patient data accurately in EMR.
