Ophthalmic Technician - Ophthalmology

Wilmington, DE

Pay From: $20 per hour

MUST:

Experienced Ophthalmic Technician - Ophthalmology

2+ years of professional experience as Ophthalmic Technician - Ophthalmology

Must have manual refraction experience

Must have visual field-testing experience

Must come from a busy Multi-provider office

Working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular meds

Working understanding of A-Scans, fundus photos, nerve fiber analysis and fluorescein angiography

Basic knowledge of contact lenses

Good understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care

DUTIES:

Ophthalmic Technician - Ophthalmology will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Responsible for daily patient care and flow of practice activities.

Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.

Enters exam data in charts thoroughly and accurately performs: Refractions, Lensometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, Visual Fields, Amslers, Muscle Testing, PFPIl Exams, Topography, Visual Acuity, Scribes readily when physician requests or practice needs require.

Performs technical workups, patient interviews and special testing.

Prepares patients for laser treatments.

Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery, scheduling, etc.

Maintains and cleans all equipment being used. Report to supervisor if not in working condition.

Returns phone calls to patients and pharmacies.

Assists in minor surgery.

Assists with studying patients and collaborates on ophthalmic services for research projects.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories.

Attends meetings as required by department.

Uses the electronic medical record as documented in the department and/or standard operating procedure and processes.

Anticipate potential needs and issues of internal and external customers.

Proactively solicit customer feedback.

Provide proactive, timely and effective responses to internal and external customer needs and requests.

Model effective customer relations skills and behaviors.

Take ownership for all actions, behaviors, decisions and outcomes.

Demonstrate dependability in attendance, punctuality, and job performance.
