Job summary

Children’s Wisconsin is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician to support three clinics in Milwaukee, New Berlin, and Mequon. The role focuses on administering diagnostic ophthalmic tests, performing retinoscopy, and coordinating with ophthalmologists for patient care.

Typical schedule is 7:30 am–4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays. The position requires knowledge of eye anatomy, ophthalmic tests and procedures, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic eye anatomy and physiology, and ophthalmic tests.
• Experience or training in ophthalmic procedures is required or equivalent ophthalmic experience.

Responsibilities

• Administers standard ophthalmic tests per physician's order and established procedures.
• Performs diagnostic tests including vision field tests.
• Performs retinoscopy.
• Evaluates patients with eye muscle problems using prisms.
• Contact lens fitting and dispensing.
• Explains procedures to patient and/or family and directs patient during treatment.
• Prepares reports and charting and communicates with physician about progress.
• Demonstrates professional behavior and collaborates with staff and families.
