Job summary

The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute seeks an Ophthalmic Technician 2 (OT2) for a full-time position in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The OT2 will perform clinical testing, document findings in the EMR, and support eye care providers in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include ocular testing, patient preparation for injections, imaging, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should have COA certification, BLS, and at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Professional appearance and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Intermediate ocular anatomy knowledge and EMR proficiency.
• Ability to assist with intravitreal injections prep and ophthalmic workups.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical testing per department standards and document in EMR.
• Provide patient-centric care and maintain confidentiality.
• Ensure equipment calibration and proper operation.
• Travel to satellite eye centers when necessary.
• Attend training and participate in clinical research as required.
• Assist with training and onboarding clinical support staff.
