The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL seeks an Ophthalmic Technician I to support providers with comprehensive eye care testing, EMR documentation, and patient-centered visits. The role conducts tests, records results, and assists with patient prep and coordination per department standards.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, BLS from the American Heart Association, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualificações

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
• 1 year of relevant experience in ophthalmic care preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Performs and documents patient visits in the EMR (reason for visit, chief complaint, history, ocular findings).
• Performs ocular tests such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, anterior segment evaluation, refraction, and pupillary assessment.
• Inserts/removes contact lenses and records ocular medications; maintains equipment calibration and safety.
• Provides patient-centric care and supports providers during exams and procedures.
• Travels to satellite eye centers as needed and participates in research as required.
• Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel and maintains required certifications.
