Job summary

The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Plantation, Florida, has a full‑time Ophthalmic Imager (OI2) opportunity. The role documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialized imaging equipment in accordance with department standards.

Core duties include conducting imaging tests (fundus photography, angiography, OCT, perimetry), maintaining equipment, and supporting research. Travel to satellite centers and occasional evenings/weekends are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires OCT-C or CRA certification.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients of all ages.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Works independently and in a team within a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialty‑specific imaging instruments.
• Documents procedures and uploads images into the EMR/PACS system.
• Ensures equipment is calibrated and in proper working order.
• Provides patient‑centered care and adheres to safety protocols.
• Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel as assigned.
• Travels to satellite eye centers and works evenings/weekends as needed.
• Assists training of visiting imaging technicians, residents, and faculty.
