Job summary

The University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician 1 (OT1) to support ophthalmic care through clinical testing and precise EMR documentation. You will assist providers with patient workups and ensure high-quality care in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include performing ocular measurements, intraocular pressure checks, and lacquering patient preparation for injections, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safety

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and procedures preferred.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with patients of all ages.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and standard software

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient visits and ocular measurements in the EMR.
• Assist in basic ocular tests and procedures (Visual acuity, intraocular pressure, contact lens handling).
• Prepare patients for examinations and injections and ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
• Support providers with accurate patient workups and accurate charting.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and stock supplies as needed.
