Job summary

University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Naples, FL is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician 1 to perform clinical testing and EMR documentation under supervision. The OT1 will assist providers, manage patient flow, and help with pre/post-exam activities in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting.

Required is a high school diploma, BLS, and 1 year of relevant experience; proficiency with the EMR and Microsoft Office is expected. Travel to satellite centers may be required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates ability to care for patients of all ages in a clinical ophthalmic setting.
• BLS from American Heart Association required.
• 1 year of relevant ophthalmic or clinical experience preferred.
• Proficient in documenting in EMR with attention to accuracy and privacy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents items in the EMR including testing and patient history.
• Provides patient-centered care and supports providers.
• Ensures equipment calibration and proper functioning.
• Travels to satellite eye centers when required.
• Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel.
