Job summary

Duly Health and Care seeks an Ophthalmic Technician in Hinsdale, IL, to support physicians with data collection, patient intake, and exam procedures. You will gather histories, perform basic tests, and document findings in the EMR, ensuring patient safety and privacy.

The role requires 2+ years in ophthalmology, with a COT certification (or in progress) and the ability to obtain certification within a year. On-site hours are Monday–Friday, with potential clinic travel to nearby sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or in the process of getting certification.
• Must obtain COT within one year of employment.
• Minimum 2 years of ophthalmology/optometry experience.
• Experience with standard ophthalmic evaluation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient history including chief complaint, history of present illness, and medications.
• Interact with patients with professionalism and respect.
• Communicate processes and procedures during visits to patients.
• Obtain information from patients or family members as needed.
• Seek guidance from senior staff or physicians when necessary.
• Provide telephone support for ocular emergencies, refills, and care questions.
• Complete accurate documentation in the EMR.
• Perform visual acuity, confrontation fields, motility, pupillary function tests.
• Perform applanation tonometry and tono-pen tonometry.
• Perform refractometry, angle assessment, dilation, and corneal topography.
• Operate and maintain ophthalmic imaging equipment including OCT.
• Assist with room upkeep and instrument sterilization.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.

Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
