Job summary

Discover Vision Centers in Kansas City is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our leading eye care team. You will assist with check-in, perform preliminary testing, and support diagnostic procedures to ensure smooth patient flow and exceptional care.

The role offers ongoing training, a collaborative work environment, and opportunities for growth within our expanding eye care network. A strong customer service mindset and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• One year of medical or ophthalmic office experience preferred.
• COA or COT certification preferred, but not required for otherwise qualified candidates.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with professionalism, assist with check-in, and provide excellent service throughout their visit.
• Verify and record patient information, medical history, medications, and purpose of visit.
• Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, pupil assessment, refraction, dilation, intraocular pressure, and extraocular movement testing.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures such as OCT, visual fields, GDX, IOL Master, auto-refractor, and corneal topography.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ocular anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and medications.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring exam rooms and equipment are patient-ready.
• Support the clinical team with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
