Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye conditions at Glenbrook Hospital. The role is full-time with some travel to other locations and requires flexible hours to meet operational needs.

You will perform eye exams, assist in procedures, manage patient records, and educate patients on eye care. A diploma or vocational degree or high school are acceptable qualifications.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Vocational Degree or High School required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary eye examinations and assessments: measure visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil reactions, and visual field testing.
• Obtain detailed patient medical history including eye-related complaints and medications.
• Administer ophthalmic tests and procedures: tonometry, keratometry, OCT, fundus photography, pachymetry.
• Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations, surgeries, and laser treatments; keep patients informed and comfortable.
• Educate patients on eye care procedures, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and contact lens/eyeglasses care.
• Maintain accurate patient records, document assessments and test results per hospital policies.
• Perform routine maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and ensure proper working order.
• Assist in sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments for eye surgeries.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and health care professionals to deliver comprehensive eye care.
