Job summary

Community Healthcare Network seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to join its Jamaica, Queens team. The role supports doctors in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and delivers patient-centered care across the pretest and exam workflow.

As part of CHN's not-for-profit network, you will work with Auto lensometer, Autorefractor, Humphrey Visual fields, and OCT equipment, fostering a compassionate, interdisciplinary environment with growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with hospital or health facility experience.
• High school diploma with 4 years of relevant experience accepted.
• Current COA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acquaint new patients with office procedures.
• Obtain patient history including ocular and medical aspects.
• Explain tests and their impact to patients.
• Handle pre-exam elements of the patient visit.
• Test and record acuity, depth perception, and color vision.
• Document and measure with ophthalmic instruments.
• Maintain patient flow and coordinate with staff.
• Provide telephone support for ocular emergencies and scheduling.
• Maintain cleanliness in pretest and exam rooms.
• Ensure operation of office equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.
