Howard Head Sports Medicine in Avon, CO is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our ophthalmology team. You will support patient care by performing eye-related clinic tasks and assist providers to enable accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience with applicable experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical equipment, HIPAA compliance and OSHA rules.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; COA/COT/COMT certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers and other clinical staff with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Prepares patient for scheduled procedures.
• Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline as determined by the clinic team.
• Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications and ensure accuracy and proper documentation in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assist with patient pre-op and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures.
• Fields patient phone calls promptly and in a professional manner.
