Job summary

SVS Vision in Michigan seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to provide clinical support to the Doctor of Optometry (OD) and improve patient satisfaction and exam efficiency. The role reports to the Professional Services Department.

Candidate will engage in refraction, eye testing, and a variety of ophthalmic procedures, contributing to a team-focused, growth-oriented work environment with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Substantial proficiency in computer applications.
• Basic understanding of health care protocol.
• Excellent communication skills with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists in improving exam efficiency and elevating patient experience.
• Communicates with the retail office management and staff.
• Prepares the clinic day with strong organizational skills.
• Performs Refraction and related testing.
• Reviews case history including current medical conditions.
• Conducts non-contact tonometry, auto-refractor, visual acuity testing, and blood pressure measurement.
• Operates lensometer, visual field testing, fundus photography, and OCT testing.
• Assists with eye drop instillation and other procedures requested by the supervising OD.
• Hands off patient care to the OD as required.
