Job summary

SightMD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician in Manhasset, NY to support physicians with a range of administrative and clinical duties. You will prepare patients for exams, perform diagnostic testing, and assist with minor surgical and laser procedures.

The role requires at least 1 year of Ophthalmic Technician experience and COA certification (or enrollment within one year). Compensation includes a Stay and Thrive Bonus and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
• COA certification required or enrolled within one year and completion within two years of hire.
• Strong customer service skills with professional demeanor.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Comfortable engaging in face-to-face interactions with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and document chief complaint and history accurately.
• Coordinate pre-authorizations for medications per insurance requirements.
• Perform pre-exam testing and advanced diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus photography, keratometry, etc.).
• Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.
• Open/close exam rooms, clean equipment, and maintain inventory while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
