Job summary

Retina Center of Texas is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team of retina specialists serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. You will work efficiently with the Nextech system, interview patients, and document ocular histories while performing routine diagnostic tests and assisting the provider.

The role involves preparing patients for procedures such as OCT and fundus imaging, administering topical meds as required, and educating patients about treatment plans.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Nextech system preferred.
  • Interview patients and document ocular/medical histories.
  • Perform ophthalmic tests and use ophthalmic instruments.
  • Administer topical medications for testing or treatment.
  • Prepare patients for imaging and procedures.
  • Assist physician with patient education.

Job Description

Retina Center of Texas is looking for an Ophthalmic Technician who is a professional, reliable, and dependable person with initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to multi-task.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Understand and work on Nextech system efficiently.

2. Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories.

3. Perform a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including, but not limited to, intraocular pressures, basic motility, confrontational visual fields.

4. Administer topical medications or diagnostic drugs as required by the provider for testing or treatment.

5. Prepare and position the patient for diagnostic tests (OCT, Fundus Photos, Fluorescein angiography) and procedures.

6. Assist the physician with patient education pertaining to the treatment prescribed.

7. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

8. Record patient charges for the billing department.

9. Checks voicemail and staff box daily.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare procedure and exam rooms; inventory equipment and supplies; replenish supplies and equipment.

2. Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures.

3. Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.

4. Work as a team member within the clinic department and all other departments.
