Job summary

Discover Vision Centers in the Kansas City area is seeking Ophthalmic Technicians to join our leading eye care team. You will contribute to delivering outstanding patient experiences and participate in our comprehensive technician training program designed to develop essential ophthalmology skills.

This role involves patient check-in support, collecting information, and performing tests and procedures under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• One year of medical or ophthalmic office experience preferred.
• COA or COT certification preferred, but not required for otherwise qualified candidates.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with professionalism, assist with check-in, and provide excellent service throughout their visit.
• Verify and record patient information, medical history, medications, and purpose of visit.
• Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, pupil assessment, refraction, dilation, intraocular pressure, and extraocular movement testing.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures such as OCT, visual fields, GDX, IOL Master, auto-refractor, and corneal topography.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ocular anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and medications.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring exam rooms and equipment are patient-ready.
• Support the clinical team with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
