Job summary

Discover Vision Centers in Kansas City is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our patient‑centered eye care team. You will assist with check-in, collect medical history, perform preliminary testing and support the clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow during visits.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, strong data entry skills, and a willingness to learn through our comprehensive technician training program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong computer and data entry skills
  • One year of medical or ophthalmic office experience preferred
  • COA or COT certification preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-first mindset

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients with professionalism, assist with check-in, and provide excellent service throughout their visit
  • Verify and record patient information, medical history, medications, and purpose of visit
  • Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, pupil assessment, refraction, dilation, intraocular pressure, and extraocular movement testing
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures such as OCT, visual fields, GDX, IOL Master, auto-refractor, and corneal topography
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ocular anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and medications
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring exam rooms and equipment are patient-ready
  • Support the clinical team with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
