Job summary

Advanced Eye Care in Illinois seeks a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to guide patients through exams and treatments, prepare for tests, and assist physicians during minor procedures. You will perform history taking, diagnostic testing, patient education, and help maintain exam rooms and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Ophthalmic Technician training or prior on-the-job training.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate empathetically in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients through eye examinations and treatments; prepare patients for tests and explain procedures.
  • Perform history taking, diagnostic testing and pre-testing for physician exams.
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures.
  • Provide patient education.

Our primary practice focus is cataract and cornea surgery and comprehensive anterior segment medical management. Our medically-focused optometrists specialize in dry eye disease and keratoconus. We have offices located in Lemont and New Lenox, Illinois, and treat more than 18,000 patient encounters per year.

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for assisting patients through the course of eye examination and treatment; prepare patients for examinations, tests or treatments and explain procedures
  • Perform all areas of history taking, diagnostic testing and pre-testing in preparation for physician exam and consultation
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures
  • Provide patient education
  • Maintain exam room and diagnostic instrument supplies
  • Additional duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Completion of Ophthalmic Technician training or prior on-the-job training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate empathetically in a professional, courteous and efficient manner
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete and maintain workflow
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative and willing to assist others
