Job summary

University Clinical Health, Inc. seeks an ophthalmic assistant to interview patients, obtain histories, and assist physicians during examinations, including lensometry, auto refraction, keratometry, and biometry.

You will prepare patients, perform screening and threshold visual field tests, assist with contact lens fitting, ensure equipment is functional, and help maintain patient flow across clinic sites.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
  • COA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the patient interview obtaining history and assisting with the examination. Assists the Physician by administering patient care as directed, and assists with office procedures including patient preparation. Performs special testing such as lensometry, auto refraction, keratometry, performs screening and threshold visual field testing with automated perimeter, performs A-scan biometry for intraocular lens calculations; provides information to patients regarding the care and handling of soft and hard contact lenses; assists physician in the fitting of contact lenses. Also, inspects equipment to ensure proper working order.
