Job summary

SharpeVision is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our Lakeway, TX team. You will perform pre and post-operative testing, assist physicians, and ensure patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include testing, history taking, medication administration, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with insurance processes. A HS diploma is required with preferred advanced degrees; English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an Associated or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication.
• At least one year of experience as an ophthalmic, optometric, or medical technician is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office, scheduling and medical software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests to measure intraocular pressure.
• Measure visual acuity and take patient histories.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and conduct visual field tests.
• Operate and maintain ophthalmic instruments and facilities.
• Assist physicians during surgical procedures.
• Manage inventory and assist with insurance coverage related to visits and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Conduct tests to measure intraocular pressure.
• Measure visual acuity.
• Take patient medical histories.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications.
• Conduct visual field tests.
• Operate, clean and maintain ophthalmic/surgical instruments, equipment and facilities.
• Take measurements of the eye.
• Measure lens power.
• Assist physicians in performing surgical procedures.
• Conduct ocular motility tests.
• Communicate telephonically with patients regarding scheduling or to inquire about post-operative status or recovery.
• Assist with surgical counseling overflow.
• Manage inventory process and order supplies.
• Work with insurances to determine patient coverage relating to appointment visit types and surgical procedures.
• Assisting with payment collections as part of clinical and surgical visits.

Education/Experience:

Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to use logic. Ability to identify information by categorizing and recognizing differences or similarities.

Certificates and Licenses:

We prefer, but don’t require, that you are a COA, COT or COMT. But if we think you’re the perfect fit, we’ll hire you and get you certified.
