Job summary

SharpeVision MODERN LASIK & LENS is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our Lakeway, TX team. You will perform eye tests, measure visual acuity, collect histories, and assist surgeons in procedures in a fast-paced, patient-focused setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience as an ophthalmic, optometric, or medical technician highly preferred.
• Fluency of English with excellent oral and written comprehension and expression.
• Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas for related measurements and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests to measure intraocular pressure.
• Measure visual acuity and take patient histories.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and conduct visual field tests.
• Operate and maintain ophthalmic instruments and facilities.
• Take eye measurements and assist physicians in procedures.
• Handle scheduling communications and insurance coverage discussions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Conduct tests to measure intraocular pressure.
• Measure visual acuity.
• Take patient medical histories.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications.
• Conduct visual field tests.
• Operate, clean and maintain ophthalmic/surgical instruments, equipment and facilities.
• Take measurements of the eye.
• Measure lens power.
• Assist physicians in performing surgical procedures.
• Conduct ocular motility tests.
• Communicate telephonically with patients regarding scheduling or to inquire about post-operative status or recovery.
• Assist with surgical counseling overflow.
• Execute core processes.
• Manage inventory process and order supplies.
• Work with insurances to determine patient coverage relating to appointment visit types and surgical procedures.
• Assisting with payment collections as part of clinical and surgical visits.

Education/Experience

Certificates And Licenses

We prefer, but don’t require, that you are a COA, COT or COMT. But if we think you’re the perfect fit, we’ll hire you and get you certified.
