Job Summary

General Ophthalmology Tech primarily responsible for the workup, education and follow-up of potential patients. The role includes completing all necessary workup including obtaining medical and surgical history, and the completion of all diagnostic testing. The position also assists the doctor in the exam lane and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all forms are complete and pertinent information has been recorded.
• Maintain outcome data.
• Perform diagnoses and tests including auto refractions, topographical mapping, wavefront analysis, lensometry, pachymetry, and visual acuity measurements.
• Evaluate and measure pupil size and responses using the slit lamp microscope, applanation tonometer, and properly instill eye drops.
• Understand all equipment and instruments used in the center, including the LASIK suite.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care and instructions.
• Assist in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment.
• Stock all medication and medical supplies by proactively planning each week to ensure completion of required tasks.
• Call to request pre/post-ops on surgery patients.
• Order all medical supplies.
• Maintain regular equipment and emergency maintenance on medical equipment.
• Assist in other areas as needed.

Compensation

USD $22.00 per hour, USD $25,000 per year.
