Job summary

A leading ophthalmology provider in Arizona is seeking a General Ophthalmology Tech to assist in patient care and surgical procedures. Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, performing diagnostic testing, and providing pre/post-operative support. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience as an Ophthalmology Technician and a high school diploma. Qualifications

  • Understanding of surgical procedures is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all necessary work up including obtaining medical and surgical history.
  • Assist the doctor in the exam lane and in surgical procedures.
  • Provide pre/post-operative care and instructions.
  • Maintain outcome data.
  • Perform auto refractions, topographical mapping, wavefront analysis, lensometer, pachymeter and visual acuities.
  • Evaluate pupil size and responses, use slit lamp microscope, applanation tonometer and instillation of eye drops.
  • Provide pre/post-operative care and instructions.
  • Assist in surgery by preparing laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment.
  • Stock medications and medical supplies; plan week to complete tasks.
  • Call to request pre/post-ops on surgery patients.
  • Order medical supplies.
  • Maintain regular and emergency maintenance on medical equipment.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.

Position Summary

General Ophthalmology Tech primarily responsible for the work up, education and follow up of potential patients. This position will complete all necessary work up including obtaining medical and surgical history, and the completion of all diagnostic testing. This position is also responsible for assisting the doctor in the exam lane and in surgical procedures.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all forms are complete and pertinent information has been recorded.
  • Maintains the outcome data.
  • Performs deft in auto refractions, topographical mapping, wavefront analysis, lensometer, pachymeter and visual acuities.
  • Evaluates and measures pupil size and responses, general use of a slit lamp microscope, applanation tonometer and proper instillation of eye drops.
  • Understands all equipment and instruments used in the center, including LASIK suite.
  • Provides pre/post-operative care and instructions.
  • Assists in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment.
  • Stocks all medication and medical supplies by proactively planning work week to ensure completion of required tasks.
  • Calls to request pre/post-ops on surgery patients.
  • Orders all medical supplies.
  • Keeps up with all regular and emergency maintenance on medical equipment.
  • Assists in other areas as needed.
