Job summary

IKAIKA Website by Dream Digital Images LLC. seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support the Laser Refractive Surgery Center. The role involves diagnostic testing, surgical assistance, and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include pre‑operative evaluations, OR preparation, intra‑operative assistance, post‑operative support, and contact lens care, with strong emphasis on accuracy, sterile technique, and timely communication.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience, with at least six months of that occurring within the past 12 months.
  • Practical knowledge of surgical equipment, instruments, supplies, and skills sufficient to set up surgical materials and position and drape patients for surgery.
  • Practical knowledge and skills sufficient to recognize and assess deviations from normal conditions, make immediate modifications, and notify Ophthalmologist in charge.
  • Possess knowledge of a wide variety of interrelated assignments and training or work experience sufficient to resolve a range of problems with responsibility for carrying assignments to completion.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Must maintain BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.

  • Support pre-operative evaluations, including refractions, corneal topography, and pachymetry.
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room for ophthalmic and laser refractive procedures, ensuring sterile technique and proper equipment setup.
  • Assist surgeons intra-operatively as a surgical and scrub assistant.
  • Provide post-operative support, including instrument cleaning, sterilization, and equipment servicing coordination.
  • Assist with routine and specialty contact lens care.
  • Provide patient phone triage following MTF protocols.
  • Participate in department meetings, clinical research, and student education.
  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with all facility and employer policies.
  • Complete required reports and perform other duties as assigned

Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

The Ophthalmic Technician supports the Laser Refractive Surgery Center by providing high‑quality diagnostic testing, surgical assistance, and patient care while maintaining a safe and professional clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Qualifications:

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Must maintain BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

N95 Respirator Clearance for fit testing and unrestricted wearing must be provided prior to starting work and annually.

Tuberculosis screening performed within three months of reporting to the client’s site.

Current required immunizations:

Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine.

Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine or positive antibody titer.

Varicella vaccine or positive antibody titer or diagnosis or verification of a history of varicella disease.

Hepatitis B vaccine series or Positive Hepatitis B surface antibody titer.

Annual medical clearance at client site.

Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Must possess problem-solving skills.

Read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with all parties and other health care providers.

Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.

Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written

Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.

Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.

Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.

Must be a Self‑starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.
