Job summary

The Judge Group seeks an Ophthalmic Technician in Honolulu, HI for a full-time, onsite role at a specialized ophthalmology and laser surgery center. You will support diagnostic testing, assist with surgical procedures, and educate patients on eye health and contact lens care.

Key requirements include at least 1 year of clinical ophthalmology experience, laser surgery experience, OR experience, and active BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of clinical ophthalmology experience, with recent activity.
• Experience in pre-operative and post-operative eye care.
• Laser surgery experience required.
• Background in operating room settings.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterility, patient positioning and draping.
• Experience with refractions and ophthalmic diagnostic testing.
• Active BLS certification required.
• Contact lens care and patient education preferred.
• COT certification is highly preferred but not required.
• Experience with excimer and femtosecond lasers is highly preferred.

Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Ophthalmic Technician in Honolulu, HI. This is a full time, onsite, direct hire role, paying $60k-$61k/year.

The Ophthalmic Technician will support a specialized ophthalmology and laser surgery center providing care to a diverse patient population. Responsibilities include conducting diagnostic testing, assisting with surgical procedures, supporting pre- and post-operative patient care, preparing surgical equipment and operating rooms, assisting physicians during laser procedures, and educating patients on eye health and contact lens care.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM (8-hour day with 1-hour unpaid lunch)

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience, with at least 6 months occurring within the last 12 months.
• Required: Ophthalmology surgical experience, including pre-operative and post-operative eye care.
• Required: Laser surgery experience.
• Experience working in an operating room setting.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment, instruments, supplies, sterile technique, patient positioning, and draping.
• Experience with refractions and ophthalmic diagnostic testing.
• Active BLS certification required.
• Experience with contact lens care and patient education strongly preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) highly preferred but not required.
• Experience with excimer and femtosecond lasers is highly preferred.

Onboarding & Clearance Requirements:

• Extensive federal background investigation and credentialing process required.
• Process can take 30+ days and candidates must be responsive and motivated throughout onboarding.
• Drug screen, immunization records, TB screening, and medical clearance required.
