Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician 1 to join our eye care team. You will perform ocular testing, assist the physician, and support daily clinic operations in a patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities include visual acuity testing, tonometry, refractometry, minor procedures, and patient education under physician supervision. Prior ophthalmic exposure and basic EMR skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Less than 1 year in ophthalmic care or allied health setting.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and documents patient chief complaints and ocular findings accurately; follows compliance guidelines.
• Performs testing such as visual acuity, tonometry, and ocular motility; supports ophthalmologist.
• Performs refractometry and drafts preliminary glasses prescriptions.
• Assists with minor eye procedures and prepares patients for sterile procedures.
• Educates patients on medications and post-operative instructions; handles specimens safely.
