Job summary

Vision Innovation Partners in Maryland seeks a detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe to support patient visits and clinical workflow. You will document chief complaints, histories, and ocular findings with accuracy and in compliance guidelines, assisting physicians and nurses.

Ideal candidates have healthcare experience (pharmacy tech, medical assistant, or ophthalmic exposure) and strong MS Office skills. Ophthalmic experience is highly desirable and prior scribe work is a plus.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented healthcare support experience preferred.
• Experience documenting medical visits and procedures is helpful.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to follow compliance guidelines.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).

Responsibilities

Join Us! Our busy ophthalmology practice is looking for Medical Scribes. Joining our team as a Scribe will fast track your career goals! You will assist nationally known vision specialists by using advanced technology. Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is a plus!

We are seeking a detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe with a healthcare background (such as a pharmacy technician, medical assistant, or similar clinical role) to support our patient visits and ensuring efficient clinical workflow. This role is ideal for candidates familiar with medical terminology, patient care, and fast-paced healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

• Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines.
• Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, and other procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
• Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record; Ensure that letters are prepared to all physicians involved in a patient’s care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
• Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests. Provide necessary patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
• Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
• Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.

• Experience as an ophthalmic technician is a PLUS!
