Job summary

Eye Specialists of Mid-Florida P.A. is seeking a Referral Coordinator in Winter Haven, FL to ensure patient authorizations and referrals are obtained prior to appointments and processed on behalf of patients to other specialists.

The role requires ophthalmic insurance knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting. The person will retrieve appointment lists, verify referrals, coordinate with primary care physicians, document details, and maintain accurate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• One year experience in an Ophthalmic setting required
• Bachelor or Associate Degree preferred
• Experience in Ophthalmic insurance verification preferred

Responsibilities

• Retrieve appointment lists and review accounts 5–7 days before visits
• Verify existing referrals/authorizations or create new requests
• Create referrals/authorizations with CPT codes and sensor notes for PCP approval
• Maintain logs and follow up on pending referrals/authorizations
• Coordinate with primary care physicians and specialists for referrals/authorizations
• Document authorization details in patient records
• Input demographics, referrals, and authorizations into the practice management software
• Obtain referrals/authorizations for emergency walk-ins
• Ensure HIPAA/compliance and professional conduct
