Job summary

Eye Associates of New Mexico is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to join our ambulatory surgical team in Albuquerque. In this full-time role, you will work with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and staff to deliver safe, efficient ophthalmic and related procedures.

You will perform circulating and/or scrubbing duties, prepare patients, monitor during anesthesia, and uphold aseptic standards while maintaining documentation and patient safety.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in an operating room or day surgery facility.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Strong knowledge of surgical patient care and aseptic technique.
• Ability to respond confidently during emergency situations.
• Excellent communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs and responses.
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesia providers, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Prepare and assess patients for surgery according to surgery center standards and policies.
• Perform circulating and/or scrubbing duties as needed.
• Apply principles of surgical asepsis and follow AORN, AAMI, OSHA, and Surgery Center standards.
• Assist anesthesia providers during induction and emergence from anesthesia.
• Monitor patients for physiological changes and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Safely identify, label, administer, and document medications and solutions.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient-care documentation.
• Help maintain efficient OR flow, minimize delays, and support timely room turnover.
• Maintain patient safety and serve as a patient advocate.
• Ensure operating rooms are appropriately stocked and equipment and sterile supplies are properly maintained.
• Support the orientation of new team members and serve as a clinical resource.
• Take on charge or relief-charge responsibilities when needed.
