Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Photographer/Technician to supervise imaging, mentor staff, and maintain imaging standards across our ophthalmology clinic. Under supervision of the Director of Service or Ophthalmologist, you will calibrate equipment, coordinate with IT and Security, and ensure monthly quality metrics are met, including NICU RetCam imaging when needed.

Qualifications

• HS/GED, COA (preferred not required if experienced)
• Minimum 5 years as Ophthalmic Photographer and Technician, facility with ROP exams, 1 year experience with organizational forms
• Excellent technical skills. Well organized, team player, and able to manage others
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Hindi, Bengali preferred as second language)
• Good interpersonal manner and communication skills important during patient testing and care to ensure harmonious ophthalmological services

Responsibilities

• Overseeing Ophthalmic Techs and Photographers and orienting new employees
• Performs instrument calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of testing equipment
• Maintains quality imaging standards in Ophthalmology Clinic
• May oversee certification process of photographers or ophthalmic techs
• Training PCAs in Primary Care Clinic for the HHC Diabetic Telemedicine Program
• Oversees and maintains quality standards of photography by PCAs
• Monitors quantity and quality of photography and prepares monthly metrics
• Troubleshoots nonmydriatic cameras
• Takes photos with RetCam in NICU and coordinates care and follow up
