Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary seeks an Ophthalmic Photographer to provide specialized ophthalmic and medical photography services for patient care, diagnosis, education and clinical documentation. This role partners with physicians and the care team to obtain high-quality images using a range of imaging techniques and equipment.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s in Photography preferred) and 2–3 years of ophthalmic or medical photography experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Photography or related field preferred.
• 2–3 years of ophthalmic or medical photography experience required.
• Strong technical skills in ophthalmic and medical photography; ability to train and mentor colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Performs ophthalmic photography studies (fundus, full-face, wide-angle, anterior segment) for patient records and teaching files.
• Reviews physician orders in EPIC and confirms imaging study before photography.
• Captures high-quality color photographs and ensures correct patient identification.
• Operates cameras and specialized imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
• Explains imaging procedures to patients and provides instructions for angiography.
• Documents procedures and relevant information in EPIC; supports patient safety.
• Mentors and provides technical support to other photographers.
• Collaborates with physicians and senior medical staff to coordinate services.
