Job summary

The Ohio State University Physicians is seeking an Ophthalmic Photographer to join our outpatient imaging team. You will perform diagnostic imaging of the eye, documenting the cornea, iris and retina, and interact with patients, families and physicians in a fast-paced setting.

This role emphasizes independence, prioritizing a diverse workload, and using OCT, fluorescein/indocyanine angiography, fundus photography, and other imaging modalities.

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of a HS Diploma or equivalent and meet the following criteria
  • 1 year of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus photography experience.
  • 2 years of Ophthalmic Imaging background (preferred)
  • OCT Certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Zeiss, Topcon, Optos, and Heidelberg Photographic systems (preferred)
  • Familiarity with operation of Ophthalmic Sonography A and B mode (preferred)
  • Associate's degree or higher in Ophthalmic Technology (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Performs ophthalmic diagnostic imaging utilizing all photographic techniques applicable to the specialty of ophthalmology in order to properly document parts of the eye, including the cornea, iris and retina.
  • Ophthalmic Photographers interact with patients, patients’ families, and physicians.
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
  • Fluorescein and Indocyanine Angiography.
  • Fundus Photography.
  • External/anterior segment Photography.
  • OCT.
  • Ultrasound Anterior and Posterior.
  • Provides support such as clinic trial Photography/ OCT/ ultrasound.
  • Drawing up medications in a sterile fashion, intravenous injection and phlebotomy, and obtaining a manual blood pressure and pulse.
  • Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
  • Travel may be required to accommodate staffing levels at other clinical facilities.
