Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior medical office or healthcare experience preferred; ophthalmic technician experience strongly preferred.
• COA credential preferred.
• Proficiency with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and EHR systems preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a cooperative and professional team approach.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
• Obtains and records accurate patient histories and updates in the EHR system.
• Performs pre-test procedures (autorefractor, confrontational field, stereo vision, color vision, lensometry, visual acuity, pupil check, motility, IOP, dilation).
• Explains testing procedures clearly to patients to ensure comfort and cooperation.
• Performs diagnostic imaging including OCT, fundus and slit-lamp photography, and visual fields.
• Maintains accuracy in documenting results and test quality.
• Operates clinical testing equipment per established protocols.
• Assists with minor in-office procedures and patient education.
• Maintains infection control and sanitization standards in exam rooms.
• Adheres to HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards.
• Collaborates with peers to support consistent clinical standards and patient experience.
