Job summary

Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN is seeking a Diagnostic Testing Technician to support The Eye Center's clinical care activities. The role involves performing routine and advanced diagnostic tests, maintaining equipment, ensuring HIPAA/OSHA compliance, and teaching students/interns under faculty supervision.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (COA preferred) and about five years of related diagnostic testing experience in an optometric setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; COA preferred.
• Five years of related optometry/ophthalmic diagnostic testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing including visual fields, corneal topography, ocular photography, scanning laser topography, fluorescein angiography and ultrasonography.
• Maintain/monitor Technology Service equipment; troubleshoot and coordinate repairs.
• Assist with quality assurance and OSHA compliance for hazardous waste and procedures.
• Assist in HIPAA compliance with privacy officer parallel to TEC.
• Instruct students/interns on diagnostic testing procedures under faculty supervision.
• Coordinate patient care during testing for enhanced patient experience.
• Provide support for pharmacy refills via the e-prescribe program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
