Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) to support clinical and administrative operations in a fast-paced outpatient ophthalmology setting.

Under the direction of a licensed clinician, you will perform ophthalmic tests, assist with procedures, document vital signs, and help optimize patient flow while maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification required.
• Minimum 6 months of supervised ophthalmology clinic experience or ICA assistant-level training.
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, diseases, and medications.

Responsibilities

• Perform ophthalmic tests, measurements, imaging, and assessments to prepare patients for examination.
• Administer diagnostic eye drops following protocols and clinician direction.
• Assist with office-based procedures including lasers, injections, and minor surgeries.
• Measure and document vital signs for procedures and patient care.
• Maintain exam rooms and equipment, ensuring supplies are stocked and clean.
