Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to prep patients for exams, gather medical information, and perform preliminary tests to ensure high-quality care and patient experience. You will support doctors by maintaining exam rooms, assisting with tests such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, keratometry, and imaging like OCT.

A positive, detail-oriented approach and strong communication are essential; a flexible Monday–Friday schedule is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of ophthalmology experience preferred.
• Detail oriented with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients with a warm disposition.
• Keeps doctors’ rooms stocked to ensure clinic flow.
• Obtains patient histories and records findings in EHR.
• Performs visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, keratometry tests.
• Checks pupils and dilates eyes as needed.
• Runs tests such as OCT and Visual Fields.
• Assists in minor procedures.
• Educates patients on conditions and procedures.
• Maintains clean/sterile exam rooms.
