Job summary

American Vision Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to prepare patients for exams, gather medical information, and perform preliminary tests under physician supervision. The role supports a high-volume ophthalmology practice with a patient-focused approach.

Responsibilities include patient intake, history taking, visual acuity and tonometry testing, specimen collection in the EHR, and assisting with minor procedures as needed. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in Ophthalmology preferred.
• COA, COT is a plus.
• Detail oriented; reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule working Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients with a warm disposition and supports clinic flow.
• Obtains patient histories and records findings in the EHR.
• Performs ophthalmic tests and measurements (vision tests, refraction, tonometry, keratometry).
• Assists with minor procedures (lasers, excisions) as needed.
• Educates patients on ocular conditions and care.
• Maintains clean, stocked, and sterilized exam rooms.
