UTHealth Houston Ophthalmology is hiring for an Ophthalmic Assistant II to join their team of professionals. The OA will be responsible for ophthalmic workups, patient history, answering patient messages, and more. The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant II assists physicians by providing patient care by preparing patients for examination and diagnostic testing. This position is primarily in the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging section.

Position Summary:
The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant II assists physicians providing patient care by preparing patients for examination and diagnostic testing.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
Current Ophthalmic Assistant Certification (COA, COT, or COMT) OR CPR Certification is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of clinical experience in Ophthalmology. Completion of an accredited program in Ophthalmology may substitute for the experience requirement. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215.
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
