Qualifications

  • Certificate 1 Cert Ophthalmic Asst required.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Certification as COA, COT or COMT by JCAHPO.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an ophthalmology practice or graduate of accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program.
  • Experience with computer systems including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms and take a complete eye history.
  • Perform visual acuity tests and measure intraocular pressure.
  • Administer eye drops and prepare for eye exams; perform refractions.
  • Monitor provider schedules and manage patient flow; gather information for patient records.
  • Maintain and stock exam rooms and equipment; participate in training.
