Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certification as COA, COT or COMT by JCAHPO.
  • 5-8 years related work experience required.
  • Refraction and applanation tonometry experience.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees Ophthalmic Assistants to meet patient and provider needs and coordinates daily patient flow.
  • Triages and facilitates prescription refills; monitors ophthalmic equipment and supply rooms; orders and stocks supplies.
  • Triages emergency patients and assesses severity to determine action and resource needs.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms; takes ocular history; checks allergies and medications; measures vision and performs tonometry and dilation checks.
  • Performs ancillary testing such as visual fields, OCT, fundus photography and other ophthalmic measurements.
